Small town Kansas, pretty much every day of the week. This particular hitching rail and saloon is in Summerfield, Kansas where I happened to go to high school. Which may explain my love of cities!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Urban
I know “urban” is supposed to look gritty or at least worn, tough maybe, but me, I’m a romantic, and the times I like best in a city are when a misty rain shimmers and dances in the night.
Weekly Photo Challenge: Unfocused #2
This was taken in from the steps of a hall at the downtown university (UMKC). I’d gone down for a surreal sort of poetry reading and when I went outside, a surreal-sort of light mist fell and the night was rosy. Too dark for a clear shot. But I loved the looks of it anyway, so it’s still in my file.
Weekly Photo Challenge: Unfocused
What an absolutely perfect prompt for these days when I feel completely befuddled by life and all the loose pieces flailing around on my desk like a den of vipers. Well, not quite, but the befuddled part is about right.
The other reason this is a perfect prompt, unfocused photos, is that I have a few that I just can’t part with but that are so fuzzy as to be almost useless for anything except remembering the moment.
Photo #1: Three Dog Night playing at the Missouri State Fair. Now you gotta love these guys out trucking across the country still doing their music. So we went. Saw Bob Dylan that way a few years ago, too….trucking across the country playing state fairs. So. Three Dog Night. One of my favorite songs has the lyrics, “I’ve never been to heaven but I been to Oklahoma….” Great song with a great guitar solo. But the photos that night? Not so great. Out of focus and caught in the lights. But here’s my favorite. That’s Michael Allsup on guitar and Danny Hutton with the mic. “Never Been to Spain.”
Weekly Photo Challenge: Together
This prompt was too much fun and I found way too many examples, but I’ve narrowed it down to three.
This first one is a winter shot in my yard. I’d never gotten around to putting my pink flamingos into the garage for the winter, so there they sat in way too much snow.
Where do flamingos go in the winter? These look lonely, I must admit.
